All my work is handbuilt and modelled using a grogged red earthenware clay. Once finished, the piece is sometimes covered with slip either white or coloured in order to enhance the colour of the next layer. A first firing to a temperature of 1080C follows, then a dry lithium glaze coloured with body stains or oxides is applied and partially rubbed off in order to obtain a patinated effect and also to reveal some of the texture underneath. In addition to dry glazes I also use bright glossy brush-on glazes to highlight particular details.
