Blandine Anderson

Blandine Anderson lives in Devon, UK, where she established her ceramics studio in 1988. Her subject matter is drawn mainly from the fauna and flora of the British Isles - many of her works are enriched by her interest in folklore, myth and fable. Animal subjects include: Hares, Sheep, Birds, Fish, Frogs and Toads, Bears and others.

All ceramic sculptures are individually hand-built in either porcelain or stoneware clay and cannot be repeated. No moulding methods are used within the building process, except for tiny sprigged details in some of the smaller porcelain pieces.

Slab and pinching methods are used followed by modelling and carving. Colours are applied as slips, oxides, glazes, lustre and enamels. Stencilled and incised detail is added before the first firing. Works are fired three times, the highest temperature being 1240' centigrade.

Blandine has exhibited throughout the British Isles, in many Solo and Group Exhibitions. Her work is held in collections worldwide.
