Jane Adam

Jane Adam’s work is the result of over twenty years of constant innovation and experimentation with a modern industrial material: anodised aluminium. With this everyday material, she creates something new and unexpected, jewellery where soft marks in subtle colours exist on a shimmery, iridescent surface. She creates pieces that extend traditional jewellery values: those of beauty, femininity and preciousness. They explore female sensuality, both in the nature of the forms themselves and in the way they feel when worn.

Anodising is an electro-chemical process, which gives the metal a hard, transparent surface layer of aluminium oxide. This layer is colourless, but can permanently absorb dyes. Jane’s current work is coloured with thickened dyestuffs applied by her own original hand printing techniques to create layers of textured marks which blend together so that each piece is unique. The colour is chemically sealed into the surface and cannot chip, flake or peel, so the pieces need no special care.
