I continually try push the boundaries with my work in terms of ideas, expression and the use of materials. The main aspect that initially drew me to bronze was the strength. My "Fighting Hares" has just two joints which would not be possible in ceramic.
Working with Castle Fine Art Foundry has given me the freedom to experiment and take an active role in most stages of the process. I cut all my waxes, work in the metal area, finishing and positioning and finally applying the patternation.
Having this opportunity has meant I have been able to keep my hand as an artist from the initial sketches through to the finished form. I am very grateful to them for this as I now have a greater understanding of the material and process and it has enabled me to take the area of my work much further.
