Chris Keenan

Chris Keenan

Chris Keenan worked as an actor in theatre and television for a number of years before even considering working with clay.
His first encounter with a potter and his pots was in 1989 when he first saw the work of potter Edmund de Waal. Edmund was contemplating working with an apprentice so Chris asked to be considered. He began his apprenticeship in October 1995.

Chris Keenan chose the combination of tenmoku and celadon glazes because he liked the idea of strong dark coffee in a small dark cup revealing a pale interior as the cup emptied. He has pursued this idea in terms of form and colour where possible as he expands his range of work
